Our training is customized to your organization's business needs, culture, and policies. We believe that interactive training is the best way for your employees to learn and integrate new skills into their daily practices; with that in mind, all of our training sessions offer exercises to practice principles that are discussed. We are pleased to offer the following in person or virtual Training Modules:

This module is compliant with the California Legal Requirement of AB1825 of providing Managers with Harassment Training. It is designed to educate Managers on all forms of harassment, including disability, medical condition, gender identity or sexual orientation, marital or domestic partner status, gender, national origin, and age discrimination. Federal and California discrimination laws and requirements are discussed. The consequences to workplace morale and productivity are examined. Participants will have an opportunity to identify actions that could be considered discriminatory and to practice possible solutions to use to rectify the situation. The Manager's role in identifying, addressing, and being a good role model in harassment prevention is discussed. Your organization's no harassment policy will be reviewed to ensure participants have a good understanding of the organization's procedures.

Your organization's no harassment policy will be reviewed to ensure participants have a good understanding of the organization's procedures, including who to go to if they have a discrimination complaint and how your organization wants to prevent harassment and discrimination.

This module covers methods for participants to use to interview and hire the best candidates. The legal reasons for and how to create a profile to identify the successful behaviors and qualifications necessary to do the job will be examined, and managers will have a chance to practice this concept. Evaluation techniques for the review of applications and resumes will be discussed, and participants will have an opportunity to practice these techniques. Principles for conducting an effective interview will be discussed, including how to develop appropriate and legally compliant questions. Common biases and mistakes in interviewing will be examined, and ways to avoid these mistakes will be outlined. Participants will learn and have a chance to practice what topics can be covered in the Interviewing process and what topics should not be discussed because they are a violation of Anti-Discrimination Laws.

This module is designed to teach supervisors and managers how to communicate and coach their employees to achieve their business goals. Participants will learn what motivates employees, how to communicate performance expectations, and how to ensure employees understand expectations keeping the focus on your business objectives.

This module covers the best practices for handling employee performance issues. Included in this topic are ways to minimize claims of discrimination and/or wrongful termination. Managers will learn and practice methods to best communicate performance problems by focusing on the behavior, not the person or the person's motives. Proper documentation and the timeliness of addressing poor or unacceptable performance will be discussed and practiced by the participants using your organization's disciplinary process. Participants will learn the importance of consistent application of performance management.

This module provides tools for managers to ensure that they write and deliver performance appraisals that articulate all aspects of an employee's performance, including acceptable and unacceptable behaviors. Strategies for capturing and maintaining information to ensure the performance appraisal is accurate and timely will be discussed. Managers will also receive information on the role that performance appraisals can play in minimizing your organization's liability exposure with regard to claims of discrimination or wrongful discharge. Best practices for conducting the performance appraisal meeting and how to handle common employee reactions to a poor review will be examined and practiced.

This module is designed to help Managers evaluate their communication style with their employees. Common barriers to open communication will be discussed. Tools will be provided that demonstrate how to ensure that the participants' communication style is effective and is taking into consideration the needs of their staff. Participants will have an opportunity to practice open two-way communication. Communicating difficult news, employee development issues, and performance expectations will be examined and practiced.

This module gives participants tools to examine their own approach to diverse workgroups. It explores different employee perspectives based on culture, gender, ethnicity, age, religion and other aspects. Managers will be provided with tools to approach situations where diversity may be at the heart of misunderstandings. Examples of why diversity works to make a workgroup more successful will also be examined. Participants will practice communication skills that are inclusive of all employees and those that are not effective and may lead to claims of discrimination or disruption of productivity.

This module provides managers with a good understanding of how a proper investigation is conducted using a fact-based, objective approach. It will also identify how a Manager can determine if a situation should be turned over to the Human Resources Department. Managers will learn and practice in class the method to get to the facts so that they have the best possible information to make good business decisions.
